So Jessica goes to BYU in Provo, Brian goes to Utah State in Logan....how in the world did we meet? That is an interesting story.
Last summer Brian was working as a river guide out in Moab, Utah. Brian worked with several of my friends from BYU and it so happened that my roommate Hannabeth really wanted to go down to Moab to visit these friends.
It was a sunny weekend in June, and I had been training for weeks to run a triathlon out in Jordan river. The week before the triathlon Hannabeth convinces me to ditch the tri and go to Moab with her. Un-known to me Hannabeth then arranged with James (another riverguide) to set me up with a river guide so that we could raft the Colorado River when we were down there. The term Hannabeth used was, "find her the hottest, SINGLE riverguide..."
Out in Moab, James saw Brian walking by and asked him if he'd take a friend of his down the river. Brian agreed; although complications arrived a few days before; Brian came down with the swine flu!
So ironically neither of us really wanted to go on this blind date. But we found ourselves out in the middle of Utah standing at the bank of the Colorado River together.
We rafted together down the Colorado; and had a wonderful time. Between bursts of singing "Kiss the Girl" when Hannabeth and James would go behind bushes, Michael Jackson tributes on sandy islands, and me falling into the river trying to tip over James and Hannabeth...we had quite the first date!
We kept in touch, and started dating the next time I was down in Moab. We biked Slickrock, rappelled off Corona Arch, took a Hummer off roading, and spent hours talking out under the stars :)
And that.... is how we met. :)
